**Note: Drivers will be welcomed on the coaches prior to the skills test to become familiar with the coaches in preparation for the skills test. Because the coaches will be driven on a rotating basis, drivers may not drive a coach that he/she is accustomed to driving.
The Coach Driver Roadeo is a VMA special event. All member operators and their drivers are invited to participate as a spectator or as a contestant. Family members may attend. ABC Companies, Bus and Coach International, Daimler Buses, Motor Coach Industries, and Prevost are sponsors of this event. The Roadeo will take place at James River Bus Lines.
ABC Companies, Bus and Coach International, Daimler Buses, Motor Coach Industries, and Prevost will provide coaches for the driving skills contest. Drivers will draw a number to determine the order in which they perform the driving skills test. Drivers will be isolated from the course during the testing. After driving, drivers may join other spectators. The Virginia Highway Patrol motor carrier enforcement officers as well as others will participate as judges for each of the events listed below:
Driving Skills Test
Parallel Parking, The Serpentine, The Offset Alley, The Right Turn, The Left Turn Backing Left and/or Right, The Stop Line, Diminishing Straight Line Clearance
Other components of the contest will be a written General Knowledge Test and a written Pre– and Post–Trip Inspection Test.
